As a first step, an analysis of the current situation has being undertaken, focusing on the present state of standardisation initiatives. A review of solutions for digital supply chains for SMEs has also been carried out, and the progress and conclusions (where available) from relevant EU-funded projects are being examined. Direct interviews with a representative set of SMEs in the three regions covered by the pilot prototypes are being conducted by the project partners. Through a network of contacts, similar information will be gathered from counties in the western Mediterranean.
DiSCwise and several other EU projects (e-Freight, SKEMA, PROPS, SUPPORT, CONTAIN, CASSANDRA and eMAR) met with representatives from industry, research and academic communities to discuss how best to establish a new paradigm for electronic information exchange in freight transport and logistics, at the e-Freight Conference 2011 which took place during the Transport Logistic trade fair, the International Exhibition for Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management, held at the Munich Messe, Germany from 10-11 May 2011. The videos and presentations from e-Freight 2011 are available at videolectures.net/efreight2011_ munich. DiSCwise also exhibited at the e-Freight stand at the Transport Logistics Exhibition 2011, 10-13 May 2011, Munich.
